What does the program offer? The YPP provides a structured learning and growth experience with four key components:
- Rotational Assignments: Young Professionals will participate in three rotations across different departments, including potential placements in regional or country offices. These rotations are designed to broaden technical expertise and leadership skills.
- Capacity Development: The YPP Learning Faculty offers professional and personal development programs, combining classroom learning with hands-on experience, including postgraduate courses and international certifications.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Each participant is paired with mentors, coaches, and peer groups to ensure seamless integration into the Bank’s culture.
- Graduation and Integration: Upon successful completion, participants are integrated into the Bank's workforce at the PL5 level, provided they meet performance and ethical standards.
Strategic Focus Areas for 2025: The 2025 YPP intake aligns with the AfDB’s Ten-Year Strategy and Four Cardinal Points. Priority disciplines include:

- Age: 32 years or younger by November 30, 2025.
- Education: A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three years of post-graduate professional experience.
- Skills: Demonstrated analytical ability, teamwork, leadership potential, and commitment to Africa’s development.
- Languages: Proficiency in English or French, with working knowledge of the other language preferred.
- Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SAP is an advantage.
- Mobility: Willingness to work and live in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, or other AfDB duty stations.
