In a shocking reveal, Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale are set to play the lead characters of The Bride! in a thrilling new film directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, which drops its teaser trailer Tuesday. This sequel to Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein follows a lonesome Frankenstein, played by Christian Bale (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t/christian-bale/), who recruits Dr. Euphronios to create a companion for himself. The film centers on a murdered young woman and the titular bride, played by Jessie Buckley, whose character is described as having nothing left to do but live. A hint of Bonnie and Clyde or Wild at Heart adds an emotional layer to their doomed love story and murder spree. The film features a limited-time theatrical run in October, following Warner Bros.’ international release schedule starting March 4, 2026. The Bride! will also debut on Netflix streaming on March 6, 2026, after Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein arrives in theaters for a limited run.
